Brazil: Discovering ”bem te vi”, sounds of nature

Discovering ”bem te vi” in Olinda. Our favorite wake up call. Bem te vi also known as ”I see you”, is the Great Kiskadee.  In Brazil, we often see them perched on top of a tall telephone pole, house or tree.  Even more so, we will hear their call outs as demonstrated in the audio file below. Discovering ”bem te vi” audio file, press play! Try and recall your best wake up experience.  When was it ? How long ago ?  Where were you ? What elements left you in that pleasant state ?  Was it a recollection of dreams or perhaps your first sight ?  As a consequence, how was the rest of your day ?  We think our days are shaped by

Discovering Praia de Carneiros, all stars align. Discovering Praia de Carneiros was on the itinerary today.  We only heard great things about it.  We considered accepting a day trip from Porto de Galinhas to Carneiros for R50.  However, the Jangada owner knew we headed to Maragogi so she recommended we visit Carneiros along the way.  Thus, the plan was to leave early that morning and spend the day discovering Carneiros beach and then reach our ultimate destination, Maragogi. ‘side note’ Praia de Carneiros in English means Sheep beach.  So it’s not only Porto

Brazil: Discovering Porto de Galinhas, part 2 of 3

Full moon ? YES ! Olinda set the standards quite high leaving us extremely pleased and ready to discover more.  We finished our delicious lunch at the Olinda Art & Grill, took a mental picture of the beautiful view and packed the car for our next adventure.  We wondered what was in store for us when discovering Porto de Galinhas.  Would we receive a warm welcome from the hostel ?  Meet another Romilson ?  Another encounter with the moon ? ‘side note’ 1. Porto de Galinhas in English means Port of Chickens.  We think it sounds better in Portuguese, where the ‘n’ and the ‘h’ form a ñ sound like in spanish. 2. Discovering Destinations was at Embu das Artes. Embu das Artes is a small city town located 27km from São Paulo renowned for its traditional weekend art fair.   It’s become one of the greatest touristic attraction in São Paulo since 1969. You won’t need to look very far since the fair occupies the streets right in the historic center.  Artists expose and sell their works of arts, such as sculptures, paintings, sweets (like pao de mel).  You can also find many kind of decorative objects (picture frames, mantle decorations). While visiting

Discovering Destinations’ first day in Brazil. Discovering Destinations visited the park on December 10th 2016 with our friend and brother in law, Facondo.  He usually hangs out with @Galera do Drop during most weekends but made a little time to show us the surroundings.  Later we had a chance to watch the skaters in action and even try to skate ourselves. We recommend visiting the Paulista University of Sao Paulo Museum.  It is also known as the Ipiranga museum since it’s located in the Ipiranga district.  Whether you are
