Where : Bratislava Castle
Discovering Bratislava Castle, Bratislava
Bratislava Castle is a short walking distance from the Old Town Square. You'll easily spot the rectangular building located on top of the rocky hill beside the Danube river. On a beautiful day, it would be a great idea to walk, take some pictures and enjoy the gorgeous views. Finally we were lucky, cause we could managed to enjoy our walk and got a last minute ticket just before they closed !
According to Wikipedia, the Castle was built from the 9th to the 18th century. The building includes four towers, one on each corner, plus a courtyard.
'How was it' ? you ask...
If we compare Bratislava Castle with others castles we visited on our European tour, we'll say 'empty'. We felt it was missing some decorations. However, we thought it was a charming structure, with beautiful paintings and exhibitions of the Slovak National Museum on the second floor.
The huge stairs leading to the top of the towers gave us a really beautiful view, inside out.
Overall
We recommend you take your time to check the beautiful gardens and views around the castle, and visit inside to check the history of Slovakia. Also, there is a possibility to all the way up one of the towers - make sure to check it out for great city views !
