Discovering Destinations was at Embu das Artes.
You won’t need to look very far since the fair occupies the streets right in the historic center. Artists expose and sell their works of arts, such as sculptures, paintings, sweets (like pao de mel). You can also find many kind of decorative objects (picture frames, mantle decorations).
While visiting Embu das Artes, why not also peak into more history and visit the city's museums, churches and memorials. For example, the Museu de Arte Sacra dos Jesuitas and the São Lazaro Chapel. You can visit the museum for a small fee, R10 if we recall correctly. Otherwise, you can enjoy an admission free day. Everyone seemed content, enjoying the colorful scenery of the arts and crafts.
If you feel the need to bring a lunch, great. Otherwise you will find many restaurants with delicious Brazilian food, as we call in Brazil typical "Comida Mineira". An artists that we met referred us to a great restaurant. He took us directly there, asking that we be well taken care of. Restaurants are in abundance in the touristic center, so there is no need to bring a lunch. Be sure to research the right one for you, as food quality and prices vary.
Before we forget, if you have a sweet tooth, make sure to leave some room for dessert. Many shacks offer creative sweet works of art.
We took many pictures, as shown in this blog. Feel free to visit our Flickr account to see more about Embu das Artes and other places we’ve visited.
