Where : The Great Market Hall, Budapest
Discovering The Great Market Hall. It’s a huge central market located on the ‘Pest’ side. As you may or may not know, the city was amalgamated years ago from Buda and Pest. It now forms one mega city, the one we all know as Budapest. Originally, Buda was located on the East side of the Danube and Pest on the West side.
Now back to the Market. It’s a beautiful building from the 1800’s that sell all kind of foods. You will find an abundance of fruits, vegetables, local dishes, meat products, pastries and the famous “Paprika”! No need to rush and purchase the first paprika package you find, there is plenty of it in the city. So take your time to search for the best price, quantity or gift package. We’ve seen the prices and it’s really cheaper to purchase it in the Market than anywhere else in Budapest.
The Market has two levels, so make sure to visit to get the best souvenirs or typical gifts from Hungary.
We recommend a visit even if you’re not planning on buying anything. This would make it a FREE visit where you can check the beautiful historic building with all the energy it brings. We loved everything about it, the shoppers, products, beautiful colours, smells, etc.

1. Get comfortable shoes to walk around;
2. Take your time to search for best quality/price, since many vendors sell identical products
3. Check on line the open hours and also looks like they are closed on Sundays.
