Where : La Mère Poulard, Mont Saint-Michel You must try the famous giant soufflé omelet. These omelettes are hand-made hammered copper bowls and cooked over an open fire. This combination along with a specific whisking pattern creates the fluffiest, airiest omelette you’ve ever seen ! It’s a Normandy tradition and “La Mere Poulard” claims to have the original recipe. It appears this restaurant was founded in 18th century and still carrying tradition. It was also recommended by our B&B hostess. Thus, the restaurant is located just past the main gate of the Mont Saint-Michel. We recommend that you make reservations well in advance to secure your spot since we were turned away, in low-season. Discovering Les Promenades Plantées, Paris

Where : Le Promenade Plantee (or Coulée verte) – Paris – France This place had invitation written all over it. According to Wikipedia, “La Promenade Plantée” or the “Coulée Verte” was inaugurated in 1993. A 4.7km elevated Park built on the top of the obsolete in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France. The park is easily accessed by metro. We recommend to visit on a nice day, or at least without rain, which could be tricky in Paris. Luck was on our side since it was a beautiful sunny day when we visited. We appreciated the nice street views. Discovering Mont Saint-Michel, France

Mont Saint-Michel, France Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the places that impressed us the most during our tour in France. It’s a magical place and the surrounding views are breathtaking. What we consider important pointers Plan an early visit to the ‘island’ as it gets crowded very quickly. We visited in April and expected very little tourists. Boy were we wrong! Expect delays. We arrived first thing in the morning and still had to wait around 30-60 minutes to get inside. This was because of tourists and security checkpoints. Interesting point, accessing the Mont is free! Where : Marche d’Aligre. Paris, France We would like to visit Marche Aligre and could do that after exploring La coulée verte. Call us lucky but we just made it before the cut off time. It looks like they celebrate la siesta, so be sure to visit between 9-1pm or 4pm til close. We recommend you checking the hours online before visiting. It’s a nice place to buy fruits, local products, find some patisseries, cheeses etc. There’s also a nice Flea market with well priced unique goods, vintage items, pieces of arts and hidden treasures from the past. Where : Bateaux-Mouches Seine River. Paris, France A couple of friends who travel usually tell us they like to spend the first day in a new city on a tour bus or boat. We decided to take that approach in Paris by taking a ride on the Bateaux-Mouches. The boat rides on Seine River and we encourage you to do the same. This is how we “discovered” l’Île de la Cité. Discovering Mouffetard Market, Paris

Where : Mouffetard Market- Paris – France The Mouffetard Market was our first destination in Paris ! We arrived in Paris in the late afternoon, after a 6 hour layover in Zurich. We took a taxi from Charles de Gaule airport to our friend’s apartment, located in the 13th arrondissement. Our friend Gilles highly recommended the Mouffetard Market. Too tired to go out for dinner, we decided to explore the area and buy some light groceries for dinner. The Mouffetard market is located on a beautifully decorated small street. However, you’ll will find all the necessities, tasty local cheese, the famous and delicious French baguettes, fruits, wine, etc. The quality of the food is great, but it wasn’t cheap.
