Discovering Marché Aligre, Paris

Where : Marche d’Aligre.  Paris, France We would like to visit Marche Aligre and could do that after exploring La coulée verte.  Call us lucky but we just made it before the cut off time.  It looks like they celebrate la siesta, so be sure to visit between 9-1pm or 4pm til close.  We recommend you checking the hours online before visiting. It’s a nice place to buy fruits, local products, find some patisseries, cheeses etc.  There’s also a nice Flea market with well priced unique goods, vintage items, pieces of arts and hidden treasures from the past.  As any other place in Paris, there are many restaurants, cafes for a lunch or just a break.  We didn’t stop because

Discovering Bateaux-Mouches, Paris

Where : Bateaux-Mouches Seine River.  Paris, France A couple of friends who travel usually tell us they like to spend the first day in a new city on a tour bus or boat.  We decided to take that approach in Paris by taking a ride on the Bateaux-Mouches.  The boat rides on Seine River and we encourage you to do the same.  This is how we “discovered” l’Île de la Cité. It’s a comfortable ride, and we were blessed with a sunny and beautiful day – which made the experience even better. It’s affordable, priced at $27,00 Euros for both of us.  It may appear expensive, but you will spend more than one hour going around the Seine River and

Discovering Pont Alexandre III, Paris

Where : Pont Alexandre III-  Paris – France We just wanted to give a quick shoutout, because we thought it was one of the most beautiful Bridges we saw in Paris and in Europe.  But surely the architect, residents of Paris and the millions of tourists already know that ! After visiting the Eiffel Tower, we walked along the Seine river and stumbled upon the bridge. According to Wikipedia, Pont Alexandre III is one of the most extravagant bridges from Paris and it’s a French Monument historique since 1975 .  We agreed and highly recommend to walk through from either side.  You will get amazing pictures of the many statues on the structure – exuberant Art Nouveau as we remember

Review from Les Catacombes de Paris, France We were fortunate to know someone with an apartment in Paris.  While they were out of the country the allowed us to stay in their place.  It was located 15 minutes walking from the “Catacombs of Paris”.   Our friends said it was worth to visit and many online reviews concurred.  Many reviews talked about long line ups and we witnessed just that.  Our first encounter was on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t peek season yet we quickly understood that we should

Discovering Jardín des Tuileries, Paris

Jardin des Tuileries – Paris – France A beautiful sunny day at Tuileries Garden during spring, The Jardin de Tuileries is a public garden located between the Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde. We couldn’t have planned it better.  A perfect activity on a sunny day, is to grab some lunch/picnic and found a nice spot on the grass to eat. After fuelling up and relaxing, we made our way north-west through the garden and toward the Arc de Triomphe.  Along the way, we took the advantage of the sunny day to sit and relax around a nice fountain.  It felt great to bask in the sun, we actually both fell asleep ! Alas, the garden is a great

Discovering Sacre-Coeur, Paris

We visited the Sacre Coeur Basilica on Easter Sunday of 2017.  The church is located in the top of the butte Montmartre, which appears to be the highest point in Paris.  Fear not, it’s not so steep of a hike and besides, you can take a funicular on the way up if you like.  So to recap, you can make your way up via streets or take the steep 300 steps hurdle to the top powered by your legs.  Alternatively, you can take the Funicular up for the price of a metro ticket (roughly). Which is really not expensive.  Unfortunately (or not) we found out about the funicular on the way down.  It was really cool and we recommend it

Discovering Arc de Triomphe, Paris

A really cool way to access the Arc de Triomphe is passing through les Champs Elysées avenue. This way you can visit multiple major landmarks in one day as you walk up the avenue. The Arc is located in the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle roundabout.  The ‘best’ way to access for a closer view is by taking the underground tunnel.  The underground passage allows to cross the two extremities of the roundabout. To our surprise, we noticed people trying to cross the roundabout by foot and recommend that you don’t try the same. Once you arrive, you have two options; you can go around and take some pictures for Free (which is what we did) or can pay
