Discovering St. Peter’s Church, Vienna

Where : St. Peter’s Church – Vienna Discovering St. Peter’s Church If you like Sacred Art, or perhaps simply gorgeous art in general – then make sure to add (the small but breathtaking) St Peter’s Church! It’s a 17th century church with a beautiful front view from Graben street.  Perhaps the exterior of the building isn’t indicative of the beauty inside.  So don’t let that stop you from entering ! More on the church According to our search on Wikipedia, the church is built in a Baroque style, which was inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica of the Vatican in Rome.   If you’re an art or architectural enthusiast, the view of the dome and altar will amaze you.  It oozes

Discovering Ferstel Passage, Vienna

Where : Ferstel Passage, Vienna Discovering Ferstel Passage The Ferstel passage is located in Vienna historic old town.  We discovered it after our quick stop at the Café Central (Palais Ferstel).  It’s kind of small passage in a covered historic building with some beautiful transparent ceiling, so we don’t blame you if you go through without recognizing its name.  However, we were memorized by the architecture and design ! Do we recommend ? Yes! It’s a really cool passage to discover with some boutique stores and restaurants.  There’s also a beautiful fountain and it’s really nice to walk through it. Discovering Schönbrunn

Discovering Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna

Where : Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna Discovering Schönbrunn Palace We visited Schönbrunn Palace on a raining day, so we didn’t get to explore the gardens as we did in Versailles and at the Belvedere. How to get there ? We took the metro, which stops at a walking distance from the palace.  As you exit the metro station, you can already see the beautiful and impressive Baroque style building. How much ? We paid around $ 21 Canadian dollars to visit, including an Audio Guide.  We don’t usually opt for the multimedia / audio package, but since we weren’t able to take pictures inside we decided to focus more on the history.  Now that we’ve done it, we really recommend it as

Where : Maria Theresien-Platz, Vienna Discovering Maria-Theresien-Platz This square is located in front of MuseumsQuartier and it’s walking distance from the metro as well. It’s a public area and free park with a beautiful monument in the middle.  There’s also a nice and well kept garden where you can walk around or take few minutes to sit and enjoy the ambience. We spent only a few minutes here after our FreeWalking tour, but we enjoyed the atmosphere and historic building located around the square. Do we recommend ? Yes, beautiful public park central located. Serge: 4  Eli:  4 More time to Discover Vienna ?  Consider these other attractions ! Discovering Volksgarten

Discovering Volksgarten, Vienna

Where : Volksgarten, Vienna Discovering Volksgarten After we visited the City Hall we ended up at Volksgarten public park for a walk. The park is nice, has a kind of “Greek” building in the middle named “Theseus Temple”.  The garden was beautiful with colourful flowers since it was Springtime.  There are nice statues and fountains with cute ducks and really well-kept roses gardens. We didn’t stay too long, but it was nice to walk around.  As one of our followers Teresa would say, it’s nice to see everything in the foreign cities ! This said, we would suggest to visit this garden to you if you have a spare time to spend in Vienna.  Otherwise, we believe there are many other

Discovering Karlskirche

Discovering Karlskirche, Vienna

Where : Karlskirche, Vienna Discovering Karlskirche Karlskirche is a really beautiful Baroque style church located on the south side of Karlsplatz.  It’s really easy to get there by metro. The construction dates from the 17’s century.  There’s a small pond / fountain in the front which creates a mirror effect of the church (see main picture). This is a picturesque location.  Moreover, on a sunny day it’s breathtaking which makes for perfect pictures. Being renovated We’re not sure if the renovations are complete.  During the spring of 2017, Karlskirche was undergoing renovations inside.  This might be reflected in some of our pictures.  We were however, able to access all parts of the church for picture taking. Not free, unfortunately It’s not
