Discovering Topography of Terror, Berlin
If you are visiting the Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin you can also visit the Topography des Terrors. We say that because they are nestled in the same area of the city.
So, what is it ?
It's basically an indoor and outdoor museum, five minutes walking distance from Checkpoint Charlie. We took the time to visit the open air memorial with the history of the World War II. According to Wikipedia is located on Niederkirchnerstrasse, formerly Prinz-Albrecht-Strasse. During the Nazi regime from 1933 to 1945, it was the SS Reich Main Security Office and the headquarters of the Sicherheitspolizei, SD, Einsatzgruppen and Gestapo.
It has a different feel and vibe from the East Side Gallery. Have a look at the pictures in our gallery to see !
Do we recommend ?
It’s a Free exposition and lots of information in a open air museum. It’s also an interesting exposition, with lots of information about the World War II history and you can also see the preserved section of Berlin Wall there. So yes, it's worth a quick look when you find yourself in that area.
