The Petit Trianon in Versailles
Pleasantly surprised
We came for the Versailles Palace, and returned raving about the Petit Trianon! Since the lineup at the Palace was unbearable, we started sightseeing the Versailles Garden and Petit Trianon.
About the Petit Trianon
According to Wikipedia, the Petit Trianon was designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel from the order of Louis XV for his long-term mistress Madame de Pompadour. Furthermore, the luxurious decorations also attracted Marie Antoinette. She was going to escape the formality of the court life and to shake off the burden of her royal responsibilities.
Here's our recommendation for your pre-booking 👇🏻
The Petit Trianon also has its own small garden demonstrating really nice views inside and out. Above all, we appreciated the decoration and tranquility at the Petit Trianon.
Our Ratings
We both really enjoyed the Petit Trianon, even more so than the Palace. Here are our scores.

Yes! Great discovery with impressive decor and creative design. Overall, we highly recommend to check it out in addition to the Versailles Palace !
Tip
- Our ticket to visit the Versailles Palace also included the Domaine de Trianon. However, we found packages on their website that weren't available in person. Please check the website, call the site for up to date information or consult our attraction recommendation above 👆🏻
