Where : La Mère Poulard, Mont Saint-Michel You must try the famous giant soufflé omelet. These omelettes are hand-made hammered copper bowls and cooked over an open fire. This combination along with a specific whisking pattern creates the fluffiest, airiest omelette you’ve ever seen ! It’s a Normandy tradition and “La Mere Poulard” claims to have the original recipe. It appears this restaurant was founded in 18th century and still carrying tradition. It was also recommended by our B&B hostess. Thus, the restaurant is located just past the main gate of the Mont Saint-Michel. We recommend that you make reservations well in advance to secure your spot since we were turned away, in low-season. Mont Saint-Michel, France Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the places that impressed us the most during our tour in France. It’s a magical place and the surrounding views are breathtaking. What we consider important pointers Plan an early visit to the ‘island’ as it gets crowded very quickly. We visited in April and expected very little tourists. Boy were we wrong! Expect delays. We arrived first thing in the morning and still had to wait around 30-60 minutes to get inside. This was because of tourists and security checkpoints. Interesting point, accessing the Mont is free! Discovering Mouffetard Market, Paris

Where : Mouffetard Market- Paris – France The Mouffetard Market was our first destination in Paris ! We arrived in Paris in the late afternoon, after a 6 hour layover in Zurich. We took a taxi from Charles de Gaule airport to our friend’s apartment, located in the 13th arrondissement. Our friend Gilles highly recommended the Mouffetard Market. Too tired to go out for dinner, we decided to explore the area and buy some light groceries for dinner. The Mouffetard market is located on a beautifully decorated small street. However, you’ll will find all the necessities, tasty local cheese, the famous and delicious French baguettes, fruits, wine, etc. The quality of the food is great, but it wasn’t cheap.

Discovering Montmartre, Paris

Where : Montmartre, Paris Montmartre is a “Must” while you are in Paris! This district is full of history, on a hill located in Paris’s 18th arrondissement. The main attraction is beautiful Basilica of the Sacré-Coeur which is located at the very top of the hill. There are lots of cafes and restaurants around, the cute ‘Wall of Love’ or ‘Mur des je t’aimes’ in French. The streets are full of artists attempting to sell their drawings and caricatures. Historic notables: Visit the Musée d’Art Naif Max Fourny in the square Many notable artists lived and worked in Montmartre during the “Belle époque” (1872 and 1914). Discovering Pont Alexandre III, Paris

Where : Pont Alexandre III- Paris – France We just wanted to give a quick shoutout, because we thought it was one of the most beautiful Bridges we saw in Paris and in Europe. But surely the architect, residents of Paris and the millions of tourists already know that ! After visiting the Eiffel Tower, we walked along the Seine river and stumbled upon the bridge. According to Wikipedia, Pont Alexandre III is one of the most extravagant bridges from Paris and it’s a French Monument historique since 1975 . We agreed and highly recommend to walk through from either side. You will get amazing pictures of the many statues on the structure – exuberant Art Nouveau as we remember

Discovering Montparnasse Cemetery, Paris

Where : Montparnasse Cemetery. Paris, France You might think it’s creepy to visit a cemetery, especially if you’re from a different city or country right !? Believe it or not, as we researched Paris prior to our trip, the cemetery came up a couple of times. Paris (and Prague to give another example) have way more tombstones with lots of history dating back to WW1 & WW2. It demonstrates the tragedies that a war can cause. At the Montparnasse cemetery, you can pick up a “Map” at the entrance, which lists where famous were buried. This is where French singer Serge Gainsbourg’s remains lie.
