Discovering Les Promenades Plantées, Paris

Where : Le Promenade Plantee (or Coulée verte) –  Paris – France This place had invitation written all over it.  According to Wikipedia, “La Promenade Plantée” or the “Coulée Verte” was inaugurated in 1993.  A 4.7km elevated Park built on the top of the obsolete in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France. The park is easily accessed by metro. We recommend to visit on a nice day, or at least without rain, which could be tricky in Paris.  Luck was on our side since it was a beautiful sunny day when we visited.  We appreciated the nice street views.  Consider this place to take cool pictures of the green alley and beautiful buildings around. We recommend it because it’s a really cool and green

Discovering Mont Saint-Michel, France

Mont Saint-Michel, France Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the places that impressed us the most during our tour in France. It’s a magical place and the surrounding views are breathtaking. What we consider important pointers Plan an early visit to the ‘island’ as it gets crowded very quickly.  We visited in April and expected very little tourists. Boy  were we wrong! Expect delays.  We arrived first thing in the morning and still had to wait around 30-60 minutes to get inside.  This was because of tourists and security checkpoints. Interesting point, accessing the Mont is free!  You will need some money for souvenirs, food and the Abbey entrance fee (roughly $10 euros for adults).  We don’t entirely recall, however there might

Discovering Tulum, Mexico

Where : Tulum, Mexico Oh yeah guys, we were in Tulum last week! We were blessed with a perfect sunny week in Riviera Maya.  Our idea was to spend a week relaxing on the beach.  Then we saw pictures of Tulum and found out it was 20 minutes away.  So… “Why not” ?!? We never know the next time we’ll be in Mexico.  Tulum for a 1/2 day tour with guide was $69usd per person.  Expensive we thought, but we got a nice van, with a good driver and a really knowledgeable guide Jazmin.  She studied history in Mexico and was clearly passionate about that. In Tulum are ruins of an ancient Mayan port city just next to wonderful Caribbean coast of

Discovering les Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris

The “Jardin du Luxembourg” is a beautiful place to visit in Paris. According to Wikipedia the gardens were created in 1612 by Marie de’ Medici the widow of King Henry IV of France. We entered the garden at the most southern point, at the “Fontaine de l’Observatoire”.  What was cool about this perspective, is that we were passing through from one end to the other.  At the very extremity was the Palace, where you may recall seeing miniature sail boats in the Medici Fountain.  A really fun activity for the kids ! Furthermore, walking through the garden from south to north, brought a pleasant feeling and sense of labyrinth as we walked down the green rows.  We noticed lots of

Discovering L’île de la Cité, Paris

Ile de la Cité is easily accessible through Notre Dame cathedral or Pont des Arts where you will find the Square du vert-calant and the famous “love-lock”.  You know that famous place where locals and tourists attach a “lock” to make a wish or demonstrate their love forever … or something like that! We first noticed l’île de la Cité on the Bateaux-Mouches tour.  Passing in front, the island gave us this peaceful impression and we instantly wanted to visit.  We saw people sitting on the edge of the concrete basking in the sun and imagined ourselves there.  After a long day of sightseeing around Paris, our opportunity struck and we accepted.  We consider ourselves fortunate for the experience since
